When is the best time to book my newborn session?
The sooner, the better! I recommend reserving your spot while you're still pregnant, ideally in your second or third trimester. I only take a limited number of newborn sessions each month so I can give every family my full attention, and those spots fill quickly. Don't worry about choosing an exact date, we'll simply save your place and plan around your baby's arrival.
How do I reserve my newborn session?
It's simple. Just reach out through my contact page or send me a message, and I'll walk you through everything. A signed agreement and a retainer are all it takes to save your spot, and once that's done, your place is officially yours. I'll be here to answer any questions from that moment right up until your session day.
What if I miss the 6 to 15-day window? Is it still possible to have the session done?
Absolutely. While those first two weeks are ideal for the sleepy, curled-up newborn poses, beautiful sessions are still very possible afterward. Babies are wonderful at every age, so if we've missed those first days, we'll simply adapt the session to your little one and still create images you'll treasure. Just let me know, and we'll find the best plan for your baby.
How long does a newborn photo session last?
Newborn sessions are relaxed and unhurried, usually lasting about 2-4 hours. I never rush these moments, we take our time for feedings, cuddles, and soothing breaks so your baby stays calm and comfortable throughout. That gentle pace is exactly what lets us capture those peaceful, dreamy images.
What if my baby arrives earlier or later than expected?
That's completely normal, and it's exactly why we don't lock in a fixed date ahead of time. Once your baby arrives, simply let me know, and we'll schedule your session for the perfect time within those first days. Babies keep their own schedule, and I'm always flexible around yours.
Can parents and siblings be included in the newborn photos?
Yes, and I'd love that! These early days are about your whole family, not just the baby. We can include parents, siblings, and even grandparents if you'd like. Family images are some of the most meaningful ones you'll look back on, so just tell me who you'd like in the photos and we'll plan for it.
Where do sessions take place?
All of my sessions take place in my studio in Clovis, where everything is set up and ready for you and your baby. The space is kept warm, calm, and fully prepared with all the wraps, props, and setups we'll need, so you can simply arrive and relax while I take care of the rest. It's a cozy, controlled environment designed to keep your little one comfortable and your images beautiful.
How do you keep my baby safe and comfortable?
Your baby's safety and comfort are always my very first priority. With over twelve years of experience specializing in newborns, I'm fully trained in safe posing and handling techniques. The studio and all props are sanitized before every session and kept warm and cozy, so everything is ready for you to simply sit back and relax. I never rush, and we pause for feedings and cuddles whenever your little one needs them. You're also welcome to stay close the whole time, so you can relax knowing your baby is in caring, experienced hands.
What happens if my baby gets fussy or needs to feed during the session?
This is completely expected, and it's never a problem, I promise! Fussiness and feedings are simply part of working with newborns, and our unhurried pace leaves plenty of room for them. We'll pause as often as your baby needs, and those little breaks are often when some of the sweetest, most natural moments happen.
Do I need to bring outfits, wraps, or props?
No need, I've got it all covered. I provide a beautiful collection of wraps, outfits, and props, so you don't have to worry about a thing. That said, if there's a special heirloom, blanket, or meaningful item you'd love to include, please bring it, I'd be honored to weave your personal touches into your photos.
What should parents and siblings wear for family portraits?
Soft, simple, and comfortable is always best. I recommend neutral tones and gentle colors that keep the focus on your family rather than on busy patterns. Once your session is booked, I'm happy to share a full style guide and even help you plan outfits so everyone looks and feels wonderful together.
What is your turnaround time for galleries and finished products?
You will receive your private unedited proofing gallery within 1 to 7 days after your session to choose your favorite images. Once you finalize your collection and product order, your fully hand-edited digital images and custom handcrafted albums will be ready in approximately 40 business days. Because every album is custom-designed and professionally printed at a fine-art lab, this time allows us to ensure the absolute highest quality for your family heirlooms.
When and how will I get to select my photos?
Shortly after our session, you will receive a private online proofing gallery with the best unedited images from our day. This allows you to choose your favorite photos and select the collection that best fits your family’s desires.
Do you offer printed heirlooms and albums?
Yes, and I truly believe your images deserve to be held, not just kept on a screen. I offer a curated collection of fine art prints, albums, and heirloom pieces made to last for generations. These are the keepsakes your family will treasure and pass down, and I'd love to help you create something timeless.
How can I get your full collection menu and pricing?
I'd be happy to send it your way! Just reach out through my contact page or drop me a message, and I'll share my full collection menu and pricing along with anything else you'd like to know. I'm always glad to answer questions and help you find the perfect fit for your family.
How long have you been photographing newborns?
It's been a long time, more than 12 years now, and I still fall a little in love with every single newborn I photograph. Over the past decade I've had the honor of documenting hundreds of families, and that experience means I know how to keep your baby safe, calm, and comfortable while capturing those fleeting first days beautifully. It's not just my work, it's something I truly love, and I'd be honored to be part of your family's story too.
Do you offer classes or mentoring for other photographers?
Yes, I do, and it's one of the most rewarding parts of what I do! After more than twelve years specializing in newborns, I love sharing everything I've learned with fellow photographers. I offer small group workshops as well as one-on-one mentoring for photographers who are ready to grow their skills, refine their craft, and build confidence in newborn photography. If you're a photographer looking to take your work to the next level, I'd be honored to help. Just reach out and I'll share all the details.
